Why Nursery Matters

Attending nursery plays a vital role in a child’s early development. High-quality nursery provision supports children to build strong foundations in communication, social skills, independence, and emotional wellbeing. Through play-based learning, children develop curiosity, confidence, and a positive attitude towards learning, while being gently introduced to early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. Nursery also helps children learn how to form relationships, follow routines, and express themselves, preparing them socially and emotionally for the next stage of their education.

The Benefits of a Nursery Within a School

A nursery that is part of a primary school offers unique advantages. Children become familiar with the school environment, routines, and expectations from an early age, making the transition into Reception smooth and reassuring. They develop confidence in a setting they already know, supported by staff who understand the whole-school journey and work closely together to ensure continuity of care and learning.

Being based within a school allows the nursery to benefit from shared resources, specialist spaces, and a consistent educational approach aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage and the wider school curriculum. This ensures that learning is purposeful, well-planned, and tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Please note that attending our school nursery does not automatically mean your child will be offered a reception place.

You can find further information on how to apply for a place in our nursery here:Admissions or by contacting our school office.

Costs of Consumables

Children in nursery may choose to stay for school meal. The cost of this is £3.00 per day. Alternatively, you may choose to send your child with a packed lunch.

We also have a voluntary weekly donation of 50p which is used to provide consumable items such as playdough ingredients, bread for toast (snack time), cooking ingredients etc.
