Learning a foreign language is fun! Our aim is to enable children to communicate in French and empower them to understand and respond to speakers expressing ideas and thoughts. Our curriculum is engaging and we aim to develop a love of language learning which can be built upon in Secondary School.
Games involving repetition and practice are essential and help the children feel more confident. Knowledge is built upon and revisited continually so that children are able to learn more and remember more. Children gain a great sense of accomplishment from learning to say something in a foreign language. It also provides frequent opportunities to perform before an audience. This nurtures children’s self-esteem and self-confidence and develops strong interpersonal skills.
Language learning is more than just learning to speak and write in a different language. Learning about festivals and traditions from countries where the language is spoken helps children appreciate other cultures so that they can take a place in our global society. In the modern world, it is more important than ever that children are tolerant and respectful of the world around them. We feel that learning a language is integral to this.
